The board is a group of seven hard-working sugar-ants, who gather for a meeting roughly once a month to decide on assocation matters and to plan activities. The current board was elected in November 2011; a new board will be elected in the association's bi-annual general meeting in the fall 2012 as per the revised association rules.

In its meetings, the board plans future activities, forms working groups, divides tasks, laughs at past incidents, makes good decisions and if the hard-working ants still have some energy left they end the long night dancing a board rueda. Outside the board meetings, the sugar-ants each take care of their own area of responsibility sending member postings, making press releases, talking over restaurant owners for some salsa time, counting the associations' pennies, and so forth.
